We didn’t plan to start a sandal company.
We just needed better sandals.
Two childhood friends. One hot summer pavement. Barefoot. Competing to see who could last longer before giving in to the burn.
That’s where it really started.
Years later, Tal and Nadav found themselves walking very different roads.
One was deep in the Thai mountains, barefoot and soaked to the bone in a heavy monsoon. His flip-flops had torn mid-hike in a remote village, so he sat with a local leather artisan to craft a pair of sandals for the journey ahead.
The other was deep into years of world travel when the strain began to surface. Stubborn injuries, tired feet, and too many miles in the wrong shoes. So he embarked on a new path, toward healing and better movement.
But both paths led to the same realization: most footwear works against the human body, not with it. Too padded, heavy, and clumsy.
We didn’t want more of the same.
We wanted less.
Something simple, light, beautiful, and truly durable. Comfortable enough to move in, whatever the day brings, and easy to forget you’re even wearing it.
So we started making ZuZu. First for ourselves. Then for curious strangers asking on remote beaches and busy streets:

Tal
A proudly stubborn minimalist, roaming the world for over a decade. Between designing features and tweaking products, he’s busy exploring materials, testing greener production methods, and somehow finding his way into adventures.
Nadav
A natural wanderer with a curious mind and restless feet. Drawn to clever details and simple solutions, he’s always sketching, testing, or rethinking how things can become better.
Life Long Sandals
These sandals will probably out last me they are that durable without losing that barefoot feel. Really comfortable and the leather straps are butter soft. The soles are super grippy and the footbed is really comfortable with a nice bit of cushion for those more rocky hikes.
